Our Mission

OUR MISSION

MISSION STATEMENT

The Key Class strives to deliver a comprehensive yet simple guide to social and business skills, the key to ensuring that all students (elementary to college), regardless of where they live, are prepared for career and life.

We teach a carefully designed curriculum, that instructs students on how to politely interact with others and understand  vital social skills as well as the importance of respectful behavior in order to reach their goals of independence and success. It is our goal to help make the transition from school to work a smooth and successful process. To encourage students to be successful we use a series of courses, researched specifically for each age group, that gives the students the keys to open new doors that might not be achievable without this knowledge.

We do what we do to help ensure that our youth have the skills for a successful and happy future. Melissa Ortega, a child psychologist at New York’s Child Mind Institute said, “students don’t know how to handle conflict face to face…they have trouble initiating interactions, those small talk situations. They don’t have as much experience doing it because they’re not engaging ever.”

Our goal is to reintroduce the importance of face-to-face conversation and teach our students the confidence necessary to handle themselves when approaching others while out in the “real world.” It has been noticed by many that our young people lack specific 21st century workplace skills such as cooperation, communication, critical thinking, creativity, and focus on the needs of the enterprise (Manpower group). These exact needs are why we do what we do. We are here to encourage students by teaching them the necessary key skills to thrive in the workplace and in life.

Bill Woodard,
Principal of Dos Pueblos High School.

“The Key Class is a class on all the ‘key’ components that students need when they enter the workforce or begin to interact with adults in the ‘real world’. Students learn how important it is to be professional.”
